My name is Gillian Brinton. I am a 60-year-old transgender woman living in South Africa, and I am raising funds to help me access gender-affirming surgery and the associated healthcare costs that I cannot meet on my own.
I began this journey later in life after spending decades trying to live according to what was expected of me. Reaching this point has been deeply significant for me, and I am now working toward bringing my body into greater alignment with who I already know myself to be.
The funds raised will help cover gender-affirming surgery as well as related medical care, travel, accommodation, medication, supplies and recovery expenses.
I am currently unemployed, which makes meeting these costs without assistance extremely difficult. Every contribution, regardless of size, moves me closer to being able to complete this part of my journey safely and with appropriate medical care.
