For more than 20 years, I’ve worked on the front line supporting women and children experiencing domestic violence and homelessness, helping them find safe housing and rebuild their lives. I never imagined I would eventually need help finding safe housing myself.I’m trying to create one safe, permanent home for myself and my aging mother, where she can maintain her dignity and independence while I support her as she gets older. My home is a 1970s trailer and is at a point where I can no longer keep patching it together. There is significant mold in the walls, the roof has repeatedly leaked, the structure is shifting, floors are becoming soft and uneven, and repairs I’ve already completed are beginning to crack and fail. After years of trying to save it, I’ve had to accept that it is no longer a home I can reasonably repair or rely on.I’ve tried every realistic option available to me, and I’ve explained those efforts in my GoFundMe, along with photos and more detail about the condition of my home and what I’m trying to accomplish. Please read and share my story. You may be the person who helps this story reach enough people, enough kindness, and enough support to finally make a safe home possible for us.I Help Others Find Safe Housing.
